Diploma in Information Technology

This pathway helps you successfully progress to the Bachelor of Information Technology. It provides a hands-on approach that allows you to explore areas in information technology and gain an understanding of both computer science and information systems.

The Diploma also focuses on developing your academic skills for future success. A highly supportive learning environment with smaller class sizes ensures a more personalised learning journey and a seamless transition to university studies.

Bachelor of Information Technology

The bachelor component allows you to specialise in computer science or information systems. In the Computer Science major, you will learn to use hardware and software to design and build systems to solve complex problems or issues associated with efficiency, usability and security. You’ll learn how a compelling blend of IT skills and business knowledge shapes industries.

The Information Systems major focuses on understanding organisational needs to develop transformative initiatives and solutions. You will develop expertise in understanding IT capabilities and implications and proficiency in methods, techniques and tools to improve and innovate organisations and their people.

Details and units

Diploma in Information Technology

You must complete 96 credit points to meet the course requirements. Once you have successfully completed the diploma, you will be automatically offered a place in the Bachelor of Information Technology. Your diploma units will be credited into your degree.

Bachelor of Information Technology

The Bachelor of Information Technology structure consists of 288 credit points with:

  • core units (96 credit points),
  • a primary major (84 credit points),
  • QUT You (24 credit points); and
  • complementary studies (84 credit points)

Upon completion of the Diploma in Information Technology, you will complete the remaining 192 credit points of the Bachelor of Information Technology. As part of this course, you must choose a major.
