Upon the completion of your Diploma in Esports, you will gain guaranteed entry into the second year of QUT’s Bachelor of Communication. QUT was recognised as the #1 university for media and communication studies, four years in a row (QS Good Universities Guide, 2020-23).

What to expect

The QUT Diploma of Esports is the first and only of its kind in Australia. You’ll cover the fundamentals of esports, including the practical and theoretical realms of esports, the impact of physical and mental health in the industry, esports pro-athlete attitudes and values, esports business strategies and a range of digital technologies before building on your esports knowledge, and specialising in an area of business.

As a diploma student, you'll learn in a supportive environment that will prepare you for future academic success. You'll be part of a community with opportunities to make friends and network, and benefit from:

Graduates of this course will have a broad range of career possibilities across esports team management, esports coaching and support, video game conceptualisation and development, marketing and consumerism, social media content creation and streaming, data analysis, event management or talent management, and many more.

Details and units

Diploma in Esports

You must complete 96 credit points to meet the course requirements for the Communication pathway. Once you have successfully completed the diploma, you will be automatically offered a place in the Bachelor of Communication. Your diploma units will be credited into your degree.

Bachelor of Communication

The Bachelor of Communication structure consists of 288 credit points with:

  • Core units (72 credit points),
  • a primary major (96 credit points),
  • QUT You (24 credit points); and
  • complementary studies (96 credit points).

Upon completion of the Diploma in Esports, you will complete the remaining 192 credit points of the Bachelor of Communication. As part of this course, you must choose a major.
