They underpin all the sciences. This unit introduces you to those underlying physical processes that relate to the behaviour of the macroscopic world we observe in our daily lives: motion, forces, energy, gravity –and not so familiar- special relativity, and see how they help us to also understand thermal interactions, fluid dynamics, global warming, optical instruments, space travel, the motions of the planets and to theorise about the nature, history and future of the universe itself. You will learn how to think about scientific concepts, and solve problems like a physicist.
