What you will learn 

From your very first semester, you'll engage in practical, real‑world learning experiences with our industry and community partners, ensuring you graduate with a portfolio showcasing your first‑hand business expertise. 

Through core business units, you'll develop a strong foundation in critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, business ethics and professional communication - skills that are in high demand. 

In your major, you will: 

• Strengthen transferable skills in design, problem-solving, strategic thinking and innovation implementation. 

• Transform your idea into a viable venture with the guidance of industry experts. 

• Engage in a series of units that will help you strategically scale your business. 

• Identify and grow your own entrepreneurial opportunities. 

• Develop capabilities to plan, lead, influence, innovate and strategise. 

• Build capabilities to lead early-stage ventures, propel growth and manage knowledge, innovation and creativity. 

• Learn how to create a winning pitch deck for a variety of audiences. 

You will also engage in a series of units, called incubators, designed to help you grow and scale your business. In this risk-free environment, you will design, refine and develop a product or service that addresses a real-world need. 

Through interactions with the QUT Entrepreneurship ecosystem and beyond, you’ll have multiple opportunities to engage with current entrepreneurs and gain access both to industry and entrepreneurial networks and their insights. By the end of the program, you could graduate with a functioning, revenue-generating business. 

In addition, our WIL program offers internship opportunities with leading organisations, helping you build valuable professional networks and gain practical industry experience.

You will also gain an understanding of modern practices and theoretical knowledge to help you identify and grow entrepreneurial opportunities. As well as learn the necessary capabilities to plan, lead, influence, innovate, and strategise as you engage the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem.

From there, you will work in a risk-free, innovation incubator environment to design, refine and develop your product or service that will address a real-world need.

Throughout your journey, you will connect with well-known entrepreneurs and business leaders who will teach you how to avoid common pitfalls and create winning pitch decks to secure funding. Opportunities to compete for funding will also be available to students throughout this course to assist in the development of your product or service.

This major will immerse you in an entrepreneurial experience like no other, and upon completing your studies, you could graduate with an operating and profitable business.
