What you'll receive

A scholarship valued at $5,000 in your first year of study in a business, law, or property economics single or double degree.

The scholarship will be paid as a stipend of $2,500 after the HECS-HELP census date in your first and second semester of study, as long as you have an active enrolment and meet all the scholarship conditions.

Other benefits may include:

  • automatic membership of the QUT College of Excellence
  • invitation to attend the College of Excellence camp in February
  • the opportunity to represent QUT as a Student Ambassador.

Eligibility

You must be one of:

  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen
  • a permanent resident
  • the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa.

You must not:

  • hold any other merit-based scholarship (Equity scholarships are allowed).

You must also:

  • be graduating from Year 12 at an Australian high school in 2023, or with an International Baccaluerreatte in 2023, or have completed an Australian curriculum overseas in 2023, or
  • have completed one of the above in 2022 and taken a gap year
  • have achieved a minimum unadjusted ATAR of 95.00 or equivalent
  • be starting university for the first time in 2024 (excluding START QUT or similar programs)
  • have placed a QUT Business, Laws or Property Economics single or double degree as your first course preference on your QTAC application

Finally, you must

  • gain admission into and accept your QTAC offer for a full-time place in one of these degree options:
    • BS05 Bachelor of Business
    • BS08 Bachelor of Business – International
    • LW36 Bachelor of Laws (Hons)
    • UD05 Bachelor of Property Economics
    • IX81 Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Laws (Hons)
    • ID26 Bachelor of Property Economics/Bachelor of Business
    • ID27 Bachelor of Property Economics/Bachelor of Laws (Hons)
    • or any other double degree paired with a Business, Laws or Property Economics degree at QUT

Faculty quotas apply to this program. Scholarship offers will be made in rank order starting with highest eligible ATAR recipients first.

There is no mid-year scholarship offer process. Students starting study in Semester 2, 2024 must defer their course and scholarship offer for 6 months in writing.

How to apply

There is no scholarship application process for this program. All eligible students who complete a QTAC application in line with QTAC key dates, listing a QUT Business, Laws or Property Economics single or double degree at their first preference, and who do not accept any other merit scholarship at QUT, will be eligible for a Faculty of Business and Law Excellence (FBLE) Scholarship offer.

The Faculty of Business and Law reserves the right to use discretion to balance the offers made across the discipline and degree combinations.

There is no Semester 2 scholarship offer round. Students looking to commence study in Semester 2, 2024 who are made a  scholarship offer, must accept their offer during the early 2024 rounds and defer their scholarship for 6 months in writing to the QUT Business School scholarships office.

What happens next?

Faculty of Business and Law Excellence Scholarship offers will be made between January and February 2024. Data from both December and January QTAC offer rounds may be used to fill the scholarship quota.

Only students who are successful in being offered a scholarship are notified.

Conditions

To keep your scholarship you must:

  • remain enrolled full time in the QUT business, laws or property economics degree nominated on your scholarship contract
  • complete a minimum of two business / laws / property economics units per semester (double degree students)
  • maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 and passes in all units for the duration of the scholarship.

You can:

  • defer your scholarship offer for six months only. If you defer your course for six months and commence in second semester you will remain eligible for your scholarship
  • take a leave of absence for up to two years but only after you have completed one semester of study. You won't receive scholarship payments during periods of leave.

You can't:

  • undertake university study elsewhere, and be resulted for same, prior to commencing at QUT on this scholarship
  • defer your scholarship for 12 months
  • hold any other academic scholarships; Equity Scholarships are allowed. If you have any questions about holding other scholarships, contact the QUT Scholarships team.
