Biography
Ryan academically specializes in online personalization privacy research and the ethics of such technology to perform surveillance capitalism. He works as a United Nations (UN) delegate under the technology banner, researching artificial intelligence governance through a consumer behaviour lens. Ryan has written the Pearson Published textbook 'Consumer Behaviour' which is one of the highest selling textbooks around the world and consults for retail brands on strategy and environmental interactions. His favourite book on retailing is "The Science of Why We Buy" by Paco Underhill; however, around technology in general Ryan recommends 'The Shallows; What the internet is doing to our brain' by Nicholas Carr.Recently, Ryan's work with the Facebook Research Lab (Toronto, CA) and Google Deepmind (San Fransisco, USA) has garnered attention, specifically his work with using eye tracking to log; IQ, Gender preferences, emotions and a range of perceptions.
Ryan runs a creative new venture start up fund, specifically for high risk ventures; real estate and creative pursuits. To be creative himself Ryan writes for a few quarterly publications, coordinates fashion shows, produces online retail strategy reports and has even helped design high rise buildings with commercial bays on the ground floor.
