Scholarship details
What you'll receive
You'll receive one of:
- 18 scholarships worth $10,000 each. The scholarship will be paid as a study stipend after the HECS-HELP census date of each semester for at least the first two years of your course.
Eligibility
You must be one of:
- an Australian or New Zealand citizen
- a permanent resident
- the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa
- an international student who has completed high school in Australia or Australian curriculum overseas
This scholarship is available for students who are applying for courses that have additional entry requirements like an audition or portfolio. You must be applying for admission into one of these courses for the first time:
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance)
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance Performance)
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts)
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting)
- Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music)
- Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts)
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary)/Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts)
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary)/Bachelor of Fine Arts (Music)
- Bachelor of Education (Secondary)/Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance).
If you're interested in a Creative Industries course that isn't eligible for this scholarship, you may be eligible for the QUT Excellence Scholarship (Academic) instead.
How to apply
There is no application process. We will choose the scholarship recipients from the pool of eligible Creative Industries course applications.
What happens next?
For acting, dance performance, music and visual arts:
- $10,000 will be awarded to students who are ranked third and fourth highest in their audition or portfolio. Students ranked first or second highest in an audition or portfolio will be awarded the QUT Excellence Scholarship (Elite Visual and Performing Arts).
For other courses:
- $10,000 will be awarded to the first two highest ranked eligible applicants in an audition or portfolio in the dance degree or any of the double degrees that combine Education or Business with visual arts, music and dance.
Conditions
You must:
- remain enrolled full-time
- maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 5.00 or higher in each semester.
You can:
- take a leave of absence for up to 2 years but only after you have completed one full-time semester of study. You won't receive scholarship payments during this time.
You can't:
- defer your scholarship offer. If you defer your course, you can reapply for the scholarship the following year, provided that you haven't undertaken university study in the meantime
- hold any other scholarship, except an Equity Scholarship. Refer to the terms and conditions for more information about which scholarship types you can hold concurrently with this scholarship. If you have any questions about holding other scholarships, contact our Scholarships Coordinator.
