This project is being completed as part of a Behavioural Science (Honours) program for Julia Richards. The purpose of this research project is to explore how a person’s beliefs about their own thoughts and emotions effects the link between childhood maltreatment and symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress. Please be aware that this study asks questions about past experiences of childhood maltreatment and current experiences of symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress. Reflection on these topics may be confronting and cause psychological discomfort or distress. If you believe that it would be distressing to reflect on your past experience of childhood maltreatment or your current experience of symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress, you should not participate in this research.

How does trust between humans and AI develop?
The purpose of this research is to investigate the development of trust when interacting with an artificial intelligence (AI) system. To do this, we will measure brain activity and trust questionnaires when interacting with the AI system. Findings of this study will improve our understanding of the various dimensions of trust, and the ways in which trust is dynamically developed in interactions, such as human-AI systems. This project is funded by a research grant from the US Air Force Research Lab (AFRL), which is part of the US Department of Defence (DoD).

School-based child sexual abuse prevention education: A study of schools’ readiness
Child sexual abuse can be prevented by adopting proven public health approaches including the development, implementation, and evaluation of evidence-informed primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention strategies. School-based education is an important approach in the primary prevention of CSA. However, few studies have focused on the extent to which schools are ready to implement child sexual abuse prevention education. This study aims to develop and test a new tool to assess schools’ readiness for CSA prevention education. It will enable understanding about the status of schools’ readiness, and the factors influencing schools’ readiness. The results of the study will be used to develop strategies to support schools.
