If you haven't completed university study before and you want to be a teacher, you can study the Bachelor of Education (Primary).
If you want to become a teacher and already have an undergraduate degree, you may be able to study the Master of Teaching (Primary).
If you're already a registered teacher and you want to specialise in a particular field of education, you may be interested in studying an education specialisation.
This course gives you the ability to help your students develop thinking, learning and problem-solving skills, and covers important topics like:
You'll learn to effectively engage with stakeholders in school communities, including parents, colleagues and external community partners.
In each year of your course, beginning in your first year, you'll be assigned to a real school to get experience in practising and applying your learning. In these professional placements, you'll work in real classrooms, supervised by professional educators.
Our extensive networks with schools and the broader education community provide additional opportunities to gain extensive experience. You may have the chance to work with the Exceptional Teaching for Disadvantaged Schools, Service Learning and Robotics@QUT programs, among many others.
Our courses prepare you to teach primary students from Prep to Year 6. You'll get extensive experience in these settings, and the vital skills and knowledge to succeed in your career.
Through the Stepping Out conference in the final year of your course, you can seek advice from education sector representatives to help you transition to your first real teaching job.

Our course meets the professional teaching standards for graduate teachers of the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership and the Queensland College of Teachers. Graduates are eligible to apply for teacher registration, which will let you begin working as a teacher.
