LondonThe Ian Fletcher International Insolvency Law Moot is returning for its fourth year, and will be held on 7-9 February 2020 in London.
The Moot provides the opportunity for university students to experience real-world court proceedings before international panels of prestigious judges. It poses a hypothetical problem to challenge students' appellate advocacy skills. There is one qualifying written round, followed by oral round finals.
QUT Law School student Madeleine Stone participated in last year’s moot, held at Singapore Management University. “The Fletcher Moot was a fantastic opportunity to hone our advocacy skills and engage with current issues in cross border insolvency,” says the Quarterfinalist. “We were humbled to compete on the international stage against teams from Asia, Europe, Canada and America.”
The upcoming moot attracted a record number of registrations, from law schools on the continents of Africa, Asia Australia, Europe, as well as North and South America,. The students are currently preparing written submissions on the Moot problem for the qualifying round, due October 14.
The Fletcher Moot is named in honour of the late Emeritus Professor Ian Fletcher QC (hc), a world-renowned scholar and author in international insolvency law. The Foundation Sponsors for the competition have been INSOL International, the International Insolvency Institute and Queensland University of Technology.
