What you'll receive

You’ll receive a scholarship valued at $15,000. The scholarship will be paid as a stipend in 2 instalments of $7,500 per semester for one year, following confirmation of your enrolment after the census date of each semester, commencing semester 1, 2023.

The successful recipient will also receive:

  • a workplace integrated learning (WIL) placement as well as a final year capstone project provided to them
  • a chance at additional opportunities offered by NOJA Power.

You must maintain a minimum GPA of at least 6 to continue to receive the stipend.

Eligibility

You must be entering the final year of your engineering degree. You must either have completed at least 192 credit points (for a single degree) or 288 (for a double degree) in one of the following:

  • EN01 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Computer and Software Studies)
  • EN01 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Electrical Engineering)
  • EN40 Bachelor of Engineering (Computer and Software Studies).

Students enrolled in one of the following double degrees are also eligible if in 2023 they will be entering the equivalent of their final year of an engineering course majoring in computer and software systems and electrical engineering:

  • IX59 Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
  • SE40 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Mathematics
  • SE60 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Information Technology
  • SE80 Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)/Bachelor of Science.

You must:

  • have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 6.

To be eligible, in addition to being a current or future domestic or international student undertaking an undergraduate, postgraduate or research qualification, you must be:

  • experiencing financial hardship.

To apply for this scholarship, you must be either:

  • an Australian or New Zealand citizen
  • an Australian permanent resident
  • an Australian permanent humanitarian visa holder.

We also take personal hardship into consideration when assessing applications. This includes:

  • personal medical conditions
  • disabilities
  • dependants with special needs.

If you're financially comfortable, and don't experience financial hardship, you should not apply for these scholarships. Academic results are taken into consideration however financial need is ranked higher in the selection process.

You need to complete and submit the online application form by 11.59pm on the close date, 9 March 2023, including the following attachments:

  • a copy of your resume / curriculum vitae (CV)
  • a copy of any relevant supporting documentation.

What happens next?

Selection will be based on:

  • financial need
  • supporting documents.

Representatives from NOJA Power will shortlist those applicants required for an interview.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview with NOJA Power, who will then advise QUT of the successful candidate. NOJA Power may request that a QUT representative also sit on the interview panel.

If your application is successful, we will notify you via telephone and email.

If your application is not successful, we will notify you by email.

About the scholarship

NOJA Power Future Scholarship is designed to support students to complete their CAPSTONE Projects and reach their full potential with the assistance of industry context and supervision from NOJA Power Engineers. This scholarship aims to provide enthusiastic students with a CAPSTONE project, industry experience and a financial stipend to support and boost their engineering education. In addition to this support, the scholarship recipients may also be offered additional opportunities in the future by NOJA Power.
