What you'll receive

A $5,000 bursary paid in one instalment, prior to the completion of your degree.

Eligibility

Applications are open to current students who meet the following criteria:

  • identify as an Aboriginal and /or Torres Strait Islander student, confirmed through the QUT CATSID (Confirmation of Aboriginality Form), and
  • is studying a QUT Bachelor of Laws (Honours) or Bachelor of Laws (Honours) Graduate Entry single or double degree, and
  • has a demonstrated interest in mathematical / statistical / quantitative research and analysis, and
  • is enrolled full time (36 or 48 credit points) in Semester 2, 2023, and
  • has no more than 96 credit points remaining on plan including the current semester (ie a maximum of one year of full time study remaining)
  • has achieved a course GPA of 4.0 or above.

How to apply

Please provide a cover letter (of no more than 2 pages) introducing yourself to the selection panel, detailing your responses to the following questions:

  1. Please tell us about your study and career goals including your interest in statistical data and quantitative research and analysis.
  2. Describe your involvement in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. This could include in your local community, in the QUT community, or in a work setting.
  3. Please detail any financial or personal circumstances that impact your studies and how this bursary would support you. For example, have you relocated to Brisbane to study? Do you work several part time jobs to support yourself? Do you have parenting or family responsibilities?

Please also attach the following documents:

  • an up-to-date resume of no more than 3 pages
  • evidence of achievements  - eg. academic, leadership, sporting, community achievements.

Submit your application to buslaw.scholarships@qut.edu.au by the application closing date listed on this page.

What happens next?

A selection panel will assess your application after the closing date, and advise if you are required for an interview.

Conditions

The successful applicant will be required to send a letter of appreciation to the donor.
