About the scholarship

This scholarship is offered by the Australian Steel Institute to assist students in pursuing studies focused on steel, facilitating advancements in steel research, and cultivating a comprehensive understanding of steel as a practical design solution. Steel plays a pivotal role in Australia's construction, infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors, making significant contributions to innovation, employment, and overall capabilities in both urban and regional areas.

As a central hub for the steel industry, the Australian Steel Institute (ASI) takes a leadership role in addressing crucial strategic issues affecting the sector, with a specific emphasis on economic, environmental, and social sustainability. This collective effort aims to maintain and enhance a resilient and vibrant steel industry for the benefit of all involved.

The ASI is dedicated to representing and fostering the growth of the Australian steel industry, and this scholarship is linked to a final-year capstone project scoped by both ASI and QUT. This thesis project involves the analysis and experimentation of a product made of high-strength structural steel, aiming to gain a deeper understanding of variables and contribute to the development of specifications.

The ASI ensures the accessibility of high-quality certified steel products for Australians, further reinforcing its commitment to excellence.
