During their July school holidays, some of the most talented young minds in the State will be engaged in the Future You Summit. This event, now in its twelth year, will offer up to 300 spots for high achieving year 11 and 12 students from Queensland and northern NSW.
The Summit encompasses all disciplines of QUT, with a strong focus on career prospects and the future job landscape.
QUT High School Engagement program manager Simone Long said the Summit is not only an opportunity to explore future degree and career aspirations, but the program has been designed to develop essential 21st century skills such as communication, problem-solving, leadership, and teamwork.
These skills are not only valuable for future careers but also for personal growth and success in all aspects of life.”
She described the Summit as an amazing week of creativity, conversation and innovation, where students will have the chance to collaborate and have meaningful dialogue with not only academics and university students but also engage with inspirational alumni experts.”
According to Ms Long, attendees of the Summit will have the opportunity to simulate a first-year university experience and fine-tune specific academic and career trajectories.
"With nearly one million jobs projected to emerge in the next five years, over half will necessitate a university degree.
Summit participants will engage in hands-on practical activities spanning various disciplines, providing insight into degrees leading to careers in healthcare, education, and professional, scientific, and technical services. Throughout the week, all students will participate in interactive sessions and, with guidance from industry speakers, explore potential future job paths," she concluded.
The Future You Summit will be held from July 1 - 5 at QUT Gardens Point campus (with some activities delivered at Kelvin Grove campus).
