The QUT Executive MBA gives you the unique opportunity to learn from industry-proven business professionals, focus your leadership skills and network with a cohort of high-achieving like-minded peers.

Our Executive MBA will allow you to continue your career while also elevating your leadership capabilities for future opportunities.

Designed for executive responsibilities, you will be able to fit study around your career demands with blended delivery to support local and online study.

Executive MBA alumnus and Executive Director Products, Maritime Integrated Warfare Systems Branch at the Department of Defence, Mark Bailey, experienced flexible study first-hand.

“My Executive MBA has served to enhance the leadership skills and build the confidence necessary to perform at the senior executive level,” he said.

“The flexible nature of the Executive MBA, incorporating both face-to-face and remote learning, enabled me to continue working full-time throughout.

“This was a key determinant in my decision to undertake the program.”

Fellow alumnus and Assistant Secretary, Commercial Division at the Department of Defence, Anush Avakian, echoed these sentiments.

“The Executive MBA course delivery was excellent,” she said.

“Having a mix of virtual and face-to-face classes was fantastic. I also found the lecturers to be highly approachable and always willing to provide guidance and support.”

QUT Canberra Program Manager, Sally McLean, explained that the flexible delivery of the program was designed with students’ careers in mind.

“The Department of Defence offers countless career opportunities, and we wanted our students to be able to embrace these unique experiences while also studying,” she said.

“Our Canberra-based Executive MBA is delivered  in a way that allows students to learn with their peers and blends bi-monthly 3-day workshops at our Executive Education centre in Deakin, with highly interactive and engaging online webinars once a week.

“The learning journey extends beyond virtual classes and intensive weekends to include an international study tour to some of the world’s biggest and most complex projects.”

As part of the Executive MBA, students can specialise in either International Leadership or Complex Program Leadership.

The International Leadership study tour features a visit to one of the world’s best universities, MIT. On this tour students learn about leveraging emerging technologies and data to drive organisational transformation.

The Complex Program Leadership study tour features visits to some of the world’s most complex projects to explore how global organisations manage large programs.

Ms Avakian credits the overseas study tour as a highlight of her Executive MBA.

“It really pushed me to use everything I had learned over the course of the program, from understanding the strategic landscape, to the wicked problem at hand, to risk management, to economics, and put that all into practice when presenting to CEOs of multi-national corporations in a compressed period of time,” she said.

“It was both one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences I have ever gone through.”

Designed to specifically develop leaders of the future, our program is grounded in an immersive cohort experience with learnings that draw from and feed into each student’s workplace.
