Podclass is an entertaining series of in-depth conversations between researchers from QUT’s Faculty of Education and the Brisbane writer and broadcaster.
The topics range from leadership in education, teacher wellbeing, and the importance of mentors; to contextualised learning, online teacher networks, and the science of brain development in early childhood.
Podclass was created as an easy way for teachers to tap into and learn from QUT’s wealth of expertise in education research.
“We wanted a series of conversations that would connect teachers, educators and even parents to our education researchers, and to learn from their expert ideas, strategies and approaches to education,” Professor Simone White said.
As host of Podclass, Ms King said academics’ personal experiences as classroom teachers combined with their research expertise offered unique perspectives on teaching and learning.
“The researchers I shared conversations with in Podclass have stood in front of a classroom and faced the same challenges our teachers face each day,” Ms King said.
“They’ve also taught a generation of pre-service teachers, and together, they provide a library of knowledge and tips backed by their own research.
“Their passion and knowledge stand out in each episode, as does their admiration for those who lead our classrooms.”
Podclass aims to provide support and advice for teachers and educators, acknowledging their place as pivotal and influential mentors shaping children’s lives.
“Hosting Podclass was a small way for me to give back to teachers,” Ms King said.
“The podcasts are meant to help teachers excel in their jobs and careers, but underpinning each episode is a recognition of how important they are to our children and our future.”
