20th April 2015

Grab your running gear and get ready for the third annual QUT Classic on May 3 - a family-friendly fundraising fun run (or walk) aimed at all ages.

The event will be held on Sunday, May 3, from 8am with scenic 1km, 5km and 10km routes around QUT Gardens Point, the Brisbane CBD, South Bank, West End and the City Botanic Gardens.

Register by April 28 for $15 for the 1km route, $25 for the 5km route and $30 for the 10km route. (Late registrations can be made on the day - cash only - for $15, $35 and $40).

Teams are welcome and there is a 15 per cent discount on registration fees if you can gather together a group of four or more for the 5km and 10km routes.

Event organiser Cheryl Goodwin from QUT Student Engagement said more than 1300 people had already registered for this year's Classic - the biggest field yet.

"It's a great day out with a wonderful atmosphere for people or all ages and levels of fitness," she said.

"You can even come in fancy dress and maybe win one of our best-dressed prizes!

"The event will finish off with food and free entertainment at our Gardens Point campus, including yoga, nutrition, cooking and dance workshops - so there will be something for everyone.

"It's also a good feeling to know that participating in the QUT Classic means you are helping provide scholarships for low-income students.

"$2 from each registration and all profit raised by the QUT Classic will go to the QUT Learning Potential Fund."

This year's QUT Classic gold sponsors are The Athlete's Foot Brisbane City and Healthstream Aquatic and Fitness Centre.
