Biography
Dr Xu is a clinician-researcher and emerging implementation scientist. Dr Xu’s research is driven by her current clinical background as an experienced front-line emergency department (ED) nurse practitioner, focusing on promoting the best evidence-based practice, vascular access care and healthcare worker wellbeing.Apart from working in one of the biggest EDs in Queensland as a nurse practitioner, Dr Xu is also a Fellow of the College of Emergency Nurses Australasia and a Centaur Fellow. She is a member of the Queensland ED statewide Advisory Panel, Metro South Health & Wellbeing Steering Committee, Metro South Health Person-Centered Care Steering Committee contributing to healthcare workers' wellbeing promotions and policymaking.
Dr Xu has attracted $2.2 million competitive grants. Dr Xu received multiple awards, including the Outstanding Achievement in Nursing/ Midwifery Leader Award, Clinician Researcher Award, Research Encouragement Award, Best Scientific paper award, best poster award and multiple teaching excellence awards. Her research is starting to make an impact in emergency care, vascular access and the general healthcare workforce by receiving media attention, including two featured interviews by Channel10 News during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 (https://bit.ly/41rQRDM) and 2021.

Teaching
Dr Grace Xu is experienced in teaching undergraduate and postgraduate studies at several Australian universities. She also provides supervision to several higher-degree research candidates. She has received multiple awards in recognition of teaching excellence (e.g. Teaching Excellence Awards 2016, 2017). She is also a passionate educator in a clinical setting utilising innovative teaching opportunities to engage ED clinicians in learning.
