IFN511 Security Management

Information is an important organisational asset. Information systems store, process and exchange information, and most sectors of the economy are dependent on electronic systems. Appropriate information security management protects information assets from unauthorised access, use or modification and provides frameworks to deal with the impacts associated with unauthorised disclosure, destruction or modification. This unit introduces fundamental information security concepts. It considers aspects of the management of information systems which affect organisational information security; including authentication, access control and risk management, and reviews assurance techniques used to measure the degree of confidence in the security of information systems. This unit equips IT professionals with the knowledge and skills to manage the security of the information systems. The following units IFN642 and IFN643 will build on the knowledge and skills developed in IFN511.
