It provides an overview of Indigenous Australian history, examining what the natural environment afforded and continues to afford First Peoples, their customs and traditional land management. Students will gain an understanding of the deep connection to country that resulted from this intergenerational occupation of the Australian landscape. The unit discusses the ongoing impacts of colonisation, the responsibilities of designers working with Indigenous communities and what design ethics and landscape resilience mean for working in Indigenous contexts. The notion of relationships built on trust and respect is fundamental to learnings in this unit. International literature and design case studies will be presented throughout the unit.","title-full":"DYN107 Decolonised Design","title-short":"Decolonised Design","url":{"current":"https://qutvirtual4.qut.edu.au/group/student/enrolment/units/unit?unitCode=DYN107&year=2022","prospective":"https://www.qut.edu.au/study/unit?unitCode=DYN107","timetable":"https://qutvirtual3.qut.edu.au/qvpublic/ttab_unit_search_p.process_teach_period_search?p_unit_cd=DYN107"},"year":2022,"years":[2022]}
