It introduces theories and methodologies to understand the complex cultural dynamics of producing commercial culture in the entertainment industries. It offers a practical framework to make sense of the cultural factors that both shape and are shaped by industry operations and individual decision-making. It surveys the structural factors as well as the sociocultural practices that constitute the production and consumption of entertainment media. In order to navigate such complex conditions, you must understand the structural factors as well as the practices, values, and belief systems that constitute entertainment culture. For example, how does ‘culture’ shape how businesses and workers conceive of and conduct themselves in the entertainment industries; how industry understands and responds to emergent technologies, or how does race or gender identity shape workers' experiences of entertainment work?","title-full":"CDB202 Entertainment Cultures","title-short":"Entertainment Cultures","url":{"current":"https://qutvirtual4.qut.edu.au/group/student/enrolment/units/unit?unitCode=CDB202&year=2022","prospective":"https://www.qut.edu.au/study/unit?unitCode=CDB202","timetable":"https://qutvirtual3.qut.edu.au/qvpublic/ttab_unit_search_p.process_teach_period_search?p_unit_cd=CDB202"},"year":2022,"years":[2022]}
