Prerequisite subjects (Bachelor of Education)

Our Bachelor of Education courses have prerequisite subjects instead of assumed knowledge. That means you must have studied the required subjects to get into these courses.

Haven't completed the prerequisite subjects?

If you haven't completed the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority subjects listed as prerequisites for your course, check our lists of equivalent subjects to see if we will accept subjects you've passed as part of:

  • Year 12 in another state
  • the International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • studies at university or TAFE.

You can't meet any of the prerequisite requirements with a completed Diploma of Early Childhood Education Care (or equivalent) or units from the diploma.

You may also be able to complete bridging or preparatory studies to meet some of the requirements. We offer bridging courses for some subjects:

Or you may be able to complete one of the other options listed as an equivalent subject.

You must complete any bridging courses before the QTAC due date for submitting documentation required for your application. There are different due dates depending on which QTAC offer round you're applying for. See QTAC's key dates for details.

International students

International students can choose to study the QUT Intensive Program as a way to meet the prerequisite subject requirements. You still must have completed Queensland Year 12, or the equivalent of Year 12 in your home country, before being admitted into the Intensive Program.
