- The Australian profiled Matthew Ford's new fun CAPTCHA product that proves you're a human and not a spam bot.
- The Australian ran Dr Michael Milford's research into how rats are helping robots 'see' on the front page of its IT section. Dr Milford was also on Nine News encouraging students looking for a stable and interesting career to consider robotics.
- Music grad Robbie Miller sang QUT's praises in the Koori Mail.
- Dr Wendy Scaife told the Fairfax network it's only natural that people donate more to research that focuses on cancers they see affecting their family and friends.
- In a Brisbane Times opinion piece, Adjunct Professor John Mickel explored the likelihood of Campbell Newman capitalising on a 'sophomore surge' in the next state election.
- Professor Simon Washington's research on driver distraction featured on ABC TV's Catalyst.
- Business School Executive Dean Professor Robina Xavier told The Courier-Mail's QB Monthly business magazine why the state's business schools are top of the class.
- The Courier-Mail also ran a piece by Adjunct Professor Phil Heywood on Brisbane City Council's new Kurilpa plan.
- Associate Professor Adrian Barnett explained in his Conversation piece why it's easier for politicians to attack science than take notice of Morwell coal fire statistics.
- Professor Barnett's research also went international with the Daily Mail Australia and UK's Thisismoney news site.
- Dean Brough talked to 612 ABC Breakfast and 4BC's Drive about his fashion students fermenting new material in jars at a lab at the State Library. The story also ran across international news networks, particularly in China.
- Associate Professor Ian O'Hara told ABC's Country Hour and other ABC outlets that agricultural waste could fuel a multi-billion dollar manufacturing industry in Australia.
- The Australian reported on QUT CEA's successful Creative3 Forum.
- 4BC, the South Burnett Times and ABC Radio widely covered the UAV Outback Challenge, organised by Professor Jonathan Roberts.
- Associate Professor Leanne Hide's new app to help teenagers control their mood swings was reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, ABC Radio Melbourne and 4BC.
- International website Power & Motoryacht featured Dr Matt Dunbabin and his students' robot boat. The ABC's Steve Austin and QUT News also talked to them about their international marine robotics competition.
- QUT fashion students told Brisbane Times why they're getting their knickers in a twister to raise awareness of youth homelessness.
- Fiona Willer's Conversation piece on gluten free food continued to be picked up by media including the New Zealand Herald.
- Associate Professor Angela Romano's 2010 research into female news sources was cited by The Australian in an article about Julia Gillard's new book.
- Dr Nicolas Suzor and Alex Button-Sloan's Conversation piece explaining why Google sometimes hands over your data to governments was published on the Lifehacker site.
- The Conversation also ran pieces by Dr Sandra Phillips, Professor Dan Hunter and Yanto Browning.
- Dr Felipe Gonzalez's research into the use of unmanned aerials in biosecurity ran on ABC regional radio and in iTWire.
- Associate Professor Mark Lauchs was interviewed by Seven News amidst reports that certain protest groups plan waves of destruction during Brisbane's G20 summit.
- Science and Engineering Executive Dean Professor Gordon Wyeth told The Courier-Mail's Careers section more people studying the STEM subjects will lead to exciting new industries.
