Do you want to know what scientific and technological marvels will change our lives over the next 50 years?

What: Dr Michio Kaku is a renowned theoretical physicist and documentarian who is passionate about bringing science to the public. Brisbane is Dr Kaku's first stop on his first official tour of Australia, where he will explore the possibilities of the future with Brisbane audiences. Dr Kaku will hold his press conference at QUT.

When: 1.30pm, Thursday June 5, 2014

Where: The Cube, Level 4 P Block, QUT Gardens Point campus

Vision opportunities:
•Dr Kaku interacting with high school students in QUT's state-of-the-art STEM classroom.
•Dr Kaku meeting one of QUT's own robots, which is the focus of current research.
•Dr Kaku touring The Cube's range of interactive display spaces.

More info: According to Dr Kaku, "We're at a precipice; we are experiencing the birth pangs of a 'Type 1 (planetary) Civilisation'. And there's no guarantee we'll make it."

Dr Kaku believes the answer to our survival lies in science, through physics. We will discover the structure of the universe and develop technologies that will allow us to bend time and space, enabling deep space travel such as exploring other solar systems.

Dr Kaku believes science and technology hold the key to solving humanities most pressing issues - like eliminating scarcity through the creation of The Replicator, which would use nanotechnology to break down and reassemble matter at the atomic level to create new substances like food and everyday products. This would allow an infinite abundance of resources.

Dr Kaku has produced numerous science documentaries and provided expert scientific commentary on the futuristic technologies shown in the Back to the Future film series.
