In line with its strategic direction, QUT will launch a suite of online postgraduate courses from January 2019, with more offerings planned throughout 2019.

QUT Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Sheil AO said QUT Online would provide an opportunity for the university to grow new markets.

“QUT Online will offer an alternative to prospective students who would otherwise not consider QUT as a tertiary higher education provider because of geography or life circumstances,” Professor Sheil said.

To enable QUT to increase its online offerings at scale, the university has entered into a partnership with service provider Online Education Services (OES).

The initial range of postgraduate options will include graduate certificates, diplomas and masters degrees in the following areas:

  • Health Management
  • Project Management
  • Public Health
  • Financial Planning
  • Education.

Professor Sheil said these courses would leverage QUT’s established expertise in leadership and management education.

“They will also offer learning flexibility for busy professionals wishing to enhance their qualifications,” she said.

“Many of today’s students are looking for access to high quality learning and control over when and where they study – these courses will provide QUT excellence without borders.”

Professor Sheil said QUT Online would provide an opportunity for the university to expand its market reach, not least of all to the 20,000 Queensland online learners who have enrolled in courses in universities in other states in the last 12 months.

QUT’s online expansion will be overseen by a new Pro Vice-Chancellor (Digital Learning) who will soon be recruited to provide leadership in digital learning and teaching at QUT. A focus of the role is to build digital capabilities through curriculum design and delivery.
