The former head of David Jones will address the next QUT Business Leaders Forum on Wednesday, October 21 at The Hilton Brisbane.

Paul Zahra, who served the iconic department store as CEO and Managing Director, has been a leading force in the Australian retail industry for more than 30 years.

He had a four-year roller coaster ride at the helm of the multi-billion dollar business, steering the company through the worst retail conditions in 25 years.

Mr Zahra left the retail giant after South Africa's Woolworths acquired David Jones last year. He led the 175-year-old retailer through a profound period of transformation, including its shift to an omni-channel retail environment.

Mr Zahra is now a global retail advisor, advising boards and senior executives on all things retail, transformational change, leadership and diversity.

He is a member of the PwC Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Board and a non-executive director of The Pinnacle Foundation that provide mentors and scholarships for disadvantaged LGBTI youth.

Mr Zahra will describe the profound and revolutionary changes sweeping through the Australian corporate and retail landscape.

He will also speak to his personal journey, the leadership practices that have worked for him and the importance for corporate Australia of adopting effective diversity strategies in the workplace.

Tickets are now on sale for the Forum, which will be moderated by leading journalist, Kerry O'Brien.

Tickets are priced at $160 per person or $1500 per table of 10 (GST included).
