The QUT Entrepreneurship Spark Program is aimed to inspire, activate and engage current QUT students, staff and alumni, as an introduction to entrepreneurship and its applications specifically to the field of Health.
The two-day program provides a general overview of what entrepreneurship is, how it can help shape your future career in Health and the foundational understanding of where to start with an idea or problem.
This health edition of Spark is a 2 day in person program for participants who are unfamiliar with entrepreneurship to introduce entrepreneurial thinking and to understand the process of ideation for creating opportunities to create value.
The program aims to answer the questions:
- What is entrepreneurship?
- How can entrepreneurial thinking help shape my career in Health?
- Is entrepreneurship for me?
- Where do good ideas come from?
Participants will finish the program with the understanding of how entrepreneurship applies to them and their future careers and the knowledge of where to start with a problem or idea.
This special edition of Spark provides opportunities for the QUT community involved with the Health Faculty to engage in entrepreneurship. It is a cohort-based, beginner level introduction to entrepreneurial mindset, thinking and action.

- Entrepreneurial & startup terminology
- How to think like an entrepreneur
- What do entrepreneurs look like?
- Applications of entrepreneurship in Health
- What is intrapreneurship
- Roles within startups & innovation
- Lean Startup 101
- Business Model canvas
- Problem identification - what problems are worth solving?
- Ideation techniques
- Introduction to Validation

- Two days, delivered in person at QUT’s Gardens Point campus
- 9am to 4pm each day
