Job interview tip: I’ve always believed in understanding the company and the people who work there. Do your research on Linkedin. Spend the time to find out who your interviewers are, add them on Linkedin prior. Google the company and see what announcements have recently been made. You’ll find great things to talk about and possibly people you both know. Ultimately you’ll have conversations that are much more in depth and as a result you’ll leave a lasting impression as the candidate who did their research and is a better fit. And if you don’t have a Linkedin profile yet, make one today.

Common job seeker mistake: Being unprepared. Often we see hundreds of applications for graduate/entry level roles, and it can be really difficult to secure an interview. If you turn up and don’t have a clear understanding of the role or business that you have applied for, it can be difficult to demonstrate your suitability and stand out in the crowd.

How to make a great first impression: Authenticity is key. Most people want to connect - it’s part of what makes us people and we can very quickly tell if someone is not being genuine and genuinely trying to connect. But adjust your communication and approach to your audience. listen, ask questions and remember you don’t have to know everything - but you do need to show a willingness to learn, or moreso, a passion to want to!
