Free for QUT Students, Staff and AlumniThe QUT Spark Program is aimed to inspire, activate and engage current QUT students, staff and alumni in the colourful world of entrepreneurship.
The program provides a general overview of what entrepreneurship is, how to incorporate proven techniques into your own projects, and how to gain opportunities and benefits from engaging and connecting with others.
From no-idea to idea, Spark is a 4-week online program for participants who are unfamiliar with entrepreneurship to introduce entrepreneurial thinking and to understand the process of ideation for creating opportunities to create value.
The program aims to answer the questions:
- What is entrepreneurship?
- How might I apply entrepreneurial thinking to my future career?
- Is entrepreneurship for me?
- Where do good ideas come from?
Participants will finish the program with the spark of an idea.
Spark provides opportunities for the QUT community across all faculties to engage in entrepreneurship. It is a cohort-based, beginner level introduction to entrepreneurial mindset, thinking and action.
The Spark program will cover:
- Entrepreneurial & startup terminology
- Innovation ecosystems & communities
- How to think like an entrepreneur
- What do entrepreneurs look like?
- Versions and applications of entrepreneurship
- Roles within startups & innovation
- Lean Startup 101
- Business Model canvas
- Problem identification - what problems are worth solving?
- Ideation techniques
Format:
- Online learning:
- 1 hr self-study (2 videos) / week
- 1 hr live tutorial (Zoom) / week*
- 1 hr homework / week
- Slack channel for communications and networking
*Tutorial on Wednesday afternoons, 3-4pm (4 weeks)
