Andrew Thorburn | Group Chief Executive Officer, National Australia Bank Group

Born and raised in Melbourne, Andrew Thorburn is a career banker with over 30 years’ experience. He has held senior positions at a number of major Australian banks including the Commonwealth Bank, before heading up the retail team at NAB. He became MD and CEO of the Bank of New Zealand in 2008 and was appointed NAB MD and Group CEO in 2014. He is chairman of the Australian Bankers' Association.

Andrew Thorburn has been described as someone who speaks his mind, a people-focused person who can make the tough calls, and someone who has a genuine passion for customers.

Andrew will speak to his personal journey and the leadership values and behaviours that truly matter to him. He will describe his strategic vision for NAB, a company with 42,000 employees, the challenges for his company and the banking industry. He will describe how he intends to stage a successful retreat from the global ambition for NAB, which has done so much damage to NAB's shareholder value in the last decade. Andrew will share his views on the changes in the bank's culture and his drive for innovation, digital transformation and the entrepreneurial spirit that is needed for the organisation.

One of Australia's leading journalists, Kerry O'Brien, will be our moderator.
