Biography
Dr. Roxanne Zolinis Associate Professor in the School of Management, Queensland University of Technology. Roxanne did her PhD at Stanford University, where she also holds a Masters in Sociology. Roxanne also has a Master of Business (Marketing) from Monash University, Melbourne, and a Bachelor of Business (Management) from Queensland Institute of Technology.Her research overturns stereotypes finding that women entrepreneurs perform equal to men and immigrant entrepreneurs start Born Global businesses and Senior Entrepreneurs work smarter, not harder.
Roxanne has won numerous awards and grants and attends prestigious conferences, such as the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference. She has published over 40 papers and chapters in high ranking journals such as Entrepreneurship & Regional Development, Journal of Business Research and Thunderbird International Review.
Roxanne is an elected Representative at Large for the Academy of Management Entrepreneurship Division where she serves on several committees such as Communications, Awards and Research.
Roxanne started a software development company, which built organizational simulations for business training. Her marketing consultancy helped start over 500 new businesses with 80% self-supporting in their first year. Roxanne was National Marketing Manager for Myers, the world’s 15th largest department store chain. Her sales promotions won three national awards from the Sales Promotion Association of Australia. Roxanne also ran a Software Development business for 5 years. Roxanne has a “For Profit” property development business, a Lifestyle business called the Yarraman Emporium and a Social Enterprise, Enterprising World, whose goal is to transform poverty to prosperity by 2050 through entrepreneurship training.
