- Process engineering and pilot plant development
Investigating the technical and economic feasibility of chemical and industrial processes through process modelling (mass and energy balances) and financial analysis. The development and operation of pilot facilities for research, demonstration and commercial feasibility trials facilitates the transition from desktop/laboratory to commercial viability.
- Sugar processing technologies
Investigating improved technologies and processes for raw and refined sugar manufacturing, including the development of improved plant and equipment. This work includes technical and economic feasibility of new or upgraded production facilities, operations management, improvements to factory performance, cane analysis, energy, risk and environmental management.
