Biography
BACKGROUNDMax Briggs is a lecturer at Queensland University of Technology in the QUT Business School. He has worked on national community and industry reform projects in developing countries and Australia.
In PNG he introduced reforms in tailoring academic oriented curriculum to practical applications in business and community welfare, adopted nationally in the Schools Community Extension Project.
He has developed and managed broadcast quality TV programs on education and training topics.
In Queensland Premiers Department Multifunction Polis [MFP] task force, prepared Queensland’s submission for a proposed future city incorporating futuristic new industries and international collaboration, involving analysis & planning for industry reform and the future economy of Australia.
RESEARCH FOCUS
Societal: Macro issues relating to marketing and business practices and addressing the question:
How can marketing more effectively contribute to and address the needs of society?
Issues of sustainability, economic efficiency and value, and societal welfare. Example: appraisal of marketing activities at industry level where industry institutions control and placate competitive practice to the point of market failure by impeding innovation that may result in better outcomes for society.
Innovation and change: His expertise relating to innovation and change is built on extensive knowledge and experience with the complementing areas of the innovation adoption process and marketing to consumers. In essence this includes understanding how the attributes of a product or offering constitute benefits to all parties with particular emphasis on defining the value proposition in terms of addressing relevant benefits and needs.
