Biography
I am an experienced critical care paramedic and educator. I joined the Queensland Ambulance Service in 2002 and since this time have worked in both urban and rural/remote areas of Queensland. I have also worked extensively within the Queensland Ambulance Service Education Centre on vocational paramedic education programs, online and face-to-face continuing professional development for paramedics across Queensland, and the critical care paramedic intern program.Between 2012 and 2014 I led the development of an undergraduate paramedic program at the University of Queensland, School of Medicine. For this work I secured an early-mid career teaching excellence award in 2014.
After coordinating QUT's CSH600 - Evidence-based Clinical Practice unit for four years, I commenced a PhD in 2021. My PhD is exploring the epidemiology and triage of severe trauma in Queensland, and is a collaboration between QUT, the Jamieson Trauma Institute and the Queensland Ambulance Service. I would like to acknowledge the KJ McPherson Education and Research Foundation who are supporting this work through a three year PhD scholarship.
