Biography
Adrian is an experienced Senior Research Officer, with 10 years of road safety research experience gained working on a diverse range of projects, including unlicensed driving, driving of unregistered vehicles, drink driving, automated number plate recognition technology, protective apparel wearing by motorcyclists, fatigue, fleet safety, road worker safety, railway crossing safety, driver aggression, and the behaviour and crash profile of motorcycle riders. He has worked with interdisciplinary teams using different research methods and a broad range of data analyses and has experience in the statistical analysis of large datasets, including driver record data for both TMR and VicRoads projects. He has gained additional experience in data cleaning and statistical analysis of large datasets through projects involving the collection and analysis of driving simulator data from the CARRS-Q Advanced Driving Simulator. Adrian has written major reports for multiple government agencies on topics including risk taking attitudes and safety perceptions of motorcyclists, hooning offenders characteristics, estimating the extent of unlicensed driving, crash involvement patterns of unlicensed drivers, and motorcyclist protective apparel use. Adrian has experience in preparing and refining data collection instruments for use in a range of scenarios including online, face-to-face, and roadside driver and motorcycle rider surveys. He also has experience in project management of research projects, preparation of ethics applications, undertaking field data collection, and liaising and working with external stakeholders.
