The former chief economic advisor to the nation will address the next QUT Business Leaders' Forum on Tuesday, 14 July at the Hilton Brisbane.
Dr Martin Parkinson PSM served from March 2011 until December 2014 as Australia's Secretary to the Treasury.
As the government's key counsellor on all areas of economic policy, he had responsibility for domestic issues such as the budget, economic forecasts, taxation and market regulation, as well as the direction and implementation of Australia's economic diplomacy.
Dr Parkinson was a member of the Board of the Reserve Bank of Australia and of Infrastructure Australia, and has previously worked at the International Monetary Fund on the reform of the global financial infrastructure.
Internationally renowned as one of Australia's best known economists and policy thinkers, Dr Parkinson has a reputation as a leader who challenges conventional thinking, linking economic, political and strategic perspectives.
He was awarded the Public Service Medal in 2008.
Dr Parkinson will reflect on his personal journey to the pinnacle of economic public policy making in Australia, give his views on the leadership that matters and speak to the challenges and opportunities for the Australian economy.
The Forum will be moderated by leading journalist, Kerry O'Brien.
