3rd May 2006

Her designs have just debuted on the catwalk at the 2006 Mercedes Australian Fashion Week ... now QUT fashion graduate Shilo Engelbrecht is returning to uni to give a free public talk on May 16 about her fashion coup.

Shilo's graduate collection won the Queensland final of the national Mercedes-Benz Start Up competition and earned her a prestigious spot in the "New Generation" showcase at last week's Australian Fashion Week in Sydney.

On May 16, the 22-year-old will share her Sydney experiences as part of a series of QUT fashion talks at the university's Creative Industries Precinct at Kelvin Grove from 5pm.

Shilo will be joined by fellow 2005 fashion graduate John Prikryl who will talk about his new label, and fashion business consultant Kay McMahon who will discuss fashion trends that emerged from Australian Fashion Week .

Shilo's graduate collection - called Map Of My Heart - features flowing printed fabrics inspired by maps and aerial photographs from her years growing up in South Africa and Australia.

She is currently working to produce her designs for the fashion market, with Brisbane's Blonde Venus one of the first boutiques lining up to stock her work.
