Details

The Diploma in Creative Industries is a direct pathway into a range of QUT’s Creative Industries programs. On completion of the diploma with the required results, you will receive up to one year of advanced standing and a guaranteed place in your chosen degree program. This pathway is an introduction to diverse knowledge, creativity and practical skills across a range of creative disciplines and provides additional academic and language support, preparing you for successful study in the QUT Creative Industries Faculty.

  • Study on campus as a QUT student with access to all services and facilities across the University.
  • On completion with the required results, receive a guaranteed place in one of the approved QUT Creative Industries programs with up to 1 year of advanced standing.
  • Study first year academic content.
  • Benefit from an interactive learning environment, with small classes and more contact hours.
  • Develop English language skills and progress without the need to take another IELTS test.

Progression to your related bachelor course

To progress into your chosen degree program you will need to:

  • successfully complete your diploma with a minimum GPA of at least 4.0
  • obtain a minimum grade of 4 in Academic Communication 1 and 2.

Advanced standing

The number of semesters required to complete a bachelor course in Creative Industries depends on which bachelor course you want to study.

You are eligible for 96 credit points (one year) of advanced standing

It will take four semesters to complete:

  • Bachelor of Creative Industries
  • Bachelor of Communication (Professional Communication)
  • Bachelor of Communication (Entertainment Industries)
  • Bachelor of Communication (Digital Media)
  • Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) (February intake)
  • Bachelor of Communication (Advertising and Public Relations) (February intake)*
  • Bachelor of Design (Industrial Design) (February intake)
  • Bachelor of Design (Interior Architecture) (February intake)
  • Bachelor of Design (Landscape Architecture) (February intake)

*Students intending to progress to the Bachelor of Mass Communication must complete unit BSD126 Marketing while studying your Diploma. Not completing this unit will extend your bachelor course duration. If you change your principle course to the Bachelor of Mass Communication while studying your Diploma, please seek enrolment advice.

  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (Animation) (February intake)
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (Technical Production) (February intake)
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (Acting) (February intake)
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance, Dance Performance) (February intake)
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (Drama) (February intake)
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts (Visual Arts) (February intake)
  • Bachelor of Design (Fashion)
  • Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) (February intake)
  • Bachelor of Design (Interaction Design)

It will take 8 semesters to complete:

  • Bachelor of Design (Honours) with majors in Interactive and Visual Design, Industrial Design or Interior Design (February intake).

You are eligible for 72 credit points of advanced standing

It will take 6 semesters to complete:

  • Bachelor of Design (Honours) with majors in Architectural Studies or Landscape Architecture
