Why choose this course?

QUT’s Diploma in Esports is the first and only of its kind in Australia. It is a pathway program designed to help you confidently transition to a university undergraduate degree. It provides a hands-on approach to building the foundational knowledge and skills needed to be part of the revolution and pursue your esports career.

A highly supportive learning environment with smaller class sizes will provide a more personalised learning journey and a seamless transition to university studies.

Our Bachelor of Games and Interactive Environments degree has a strong foundation in information technology, design and creative thinking. It allows you to join the growing industry of digital environments and electronic games by acquiring expertise in the development of computer games and other forms of interactive media.

You will gain experience in the whole process of game and interaction development, from identification and evaluation of ideas, creation of design concepts, critique of existing and potential products, analysis of cultural impact and industry trends, and the development and delivery of a final product.

Bachelor of Games and Interactive Environments

This part of your degree lets you experience the complete game and interactive media development process—from initial ideas and design to analysing products, cultural impact, and industry trends to developing and publishing high-quality games and immersive digital experiences.

The most successful degree of its kind in Queensland, QUT has strong connections to local games studios and industry partners in immersive technology. QUT offers one of the only degrees in Australia to include:

  • a programming technology stream
  • a design stream
  • a 3D art and animation stream.

Across all three majors, we introduce you to generic programming concepts and problem-solving strategies, teamwork, and an interactive media professional's ethical and social responsibilities.

The course is taught together with QUT Creative Industries so that you learn creative, design and technology skills from experts in their respective fields. Our studio teaching model creates cross-disciplinary teams, so you get experience in collaboratively building games in the second and third year.

If you complete a software technology minor as part of your degree, you may be eligible for Australian Computer Society associate membership.
