Carbon geosequestration, an effective technique for combating climate change, involves injecting CO2 deep underground into depleted oil reservoirs or aquifers for permanent storage. There are six known species of dasyurid marsupial antechinus occurring in south-east Queensland, and two of them are endangered. Other antechinus species may require listing as threatened given the expanding urban centre, feral pests and climate change. Collectively, however, we know little about these antechinuses regarding their relative distribution ranges, abundance and habitat requirements.
