Lara McKay
Lara McKay provides executive leadership for QUT’s Olympic and Paralympic engagement. Ms McKay leads the direction for the university's Marketing and Recruitment, Communications and Government Relations, and Alumni Relations and Engagement portfolios.
Ms McKay has more than 25 years experience in the education and public sector including senior executive positions in Queensland Government departments, Queensland Health and the Premier's Department as well as experience in Victorian Government, and as Master and CEO of Ormond College at the University of Melbourne
Ms McKay also held the position of General Manager Marketing and Communications for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games. Here she led marketing, communications and press and media operations in the lead up to and during the games.
Emily Rosemond OLY
Emily Rosemond is a Winter Olympian and Commonwealth Games medallist with more than 20 years operating in the high-performance sporting environment and driving Olympic and Paralympic participation at QUT.
Emily leads the QUT Sports Strategy, focused on creating opportunities for students and enhancing QUT's contribution to sport, education, and industry. Her work includes developing high-impact programs in areas that leverage sports technologies, emerging and community sports, esports and events. Emily also represents QUT nationally and internationally, contributing to partnerships and initiatives that promote sport as a platform for education, engagement, and inclusion.
Professor Gene Moyle
Professor Moyle is a senior sport and exercise psychologist who has collaborated with elite athletes across a range of sports from state, national, Olympic and Paralympic programs.
Her research and practice centres on the application of performance psychology, with a focus on enhancing human potential, performance, and health and wellbeing. She will advance QUT's 2032 Olympic Games engagement strategy in the learning and teaching space, bringing a rich understanding of sport, performance, and education to identify opportunities for student engagement. Gene will also represent QUT on the Queensland University Games Engagement Committee having served as past chair.
Professor Sarah Kelly OAM
Sarah Kelly is an experienced commercial lawyer and non-executive director across sport, tourism, technology, and professional services sectors. She is deputy chair of the Brisbane Lions AFL Football Club and Tourism and Events Qld. She is globally known for her expertise in the sports field, and recent published work includes health impacts of esports, sports integrity, mega-event legacy evaluation, scandal and sponsorship, sports diplomacy, and women's sports commercialisation.
Her expertise is instrumental in building credibility and relevance with games partners, and in leading our research engagement strategy in the lead up to the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
James Nicholson
James brings years of experience managing major venues across Europe and Australia, such as Emirates Stadium in London and Murrayfield in Edinburgh. He is playing a key role in shaping QUT's physical and cultural infrastructure in the lead-up to 2032.
This includes leveraging QUT's proximity to Olympic and Paralympic infrastructure to enhance the campus experience through commercial, operational, and placemaking opportunities that foster student, staff, and community engagement, while ensuring sustainability and inclusiveness.
