Overview

This PhD project will explore the information and support needs of people with lived experience of burn injuries, their families and communities. The project will focus on people with burn injuries once they leave hospital or when the majority of their burns have healed. The likely outcome of the project will be resources and strategies that help burn survivors, their families and communities access information and support which they have expressed is a high priority.

Research activities

  • Conducting a landscape analysis.
  • Conducting a qualitative study and implementation evaluation.
  • Working closely with people with lived experience of burn injuries to guide the project.

Outcomes

The PhD project is part of a larger Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) project termed 'Ember to Empower' which aims to co-design information and support for burn survivors, their families and communities.

Skills and experience

Preferred experience:

  • Experience in qualitative or implementation research, and/or conducting scoping or systematic reviews.
  • Background as a health professional and/or consumer advocate with experience supporting individuals with health conditions.
  • Experience working with children or youth is desirable, particularly if the successful candidate chooses to focus on these populations.
