Biography
Dr Zephanie Tyack is a health services researcher and implementation scientist at the Australian Institute of Health Services Research (AusHSI), School of Public Health and Social Work, and Centre for Healthcare Transformation, Faculty of Health, QUT. She has expertise evaluating the effectiveness of innovative treatments and models of care in burns, trauma, rehabilitation and community settings using clinical trials. She also evaluates the implementation of evidence in real world settings to fast track use in clinical practice. Dr Tyack has a background as a clinical occupational therapist and has worked in research-related positions in hospital and health services as well as in universities. She has over 50 peer-reviewed publications the majority in Quartile 1 journals as first or senior author. She is co-chair of the child health special interest group, International Society for Quality of Life Research (ISOQOL) and member of the patient engagement committees of ISOQOL and the Australian New Zealand Burn Association research committee. She chairs an implementation science special interest group in child health and is an editorial board member of Frontiers in Pediatrics. Dr Tyack’s current program of research focuses on patient engagement, and the evaluation of novel health interventions to improve health care, mental health, health-related quality of life and clinical decision making. These interventions include care navigators, patient-reported outcome measures, burn scar treatments, medical hypnosis, information and communication technologies, and laser treatments. Dr Tyack works with children with life-altering skin conditions, cancer, long-term neurodevelopmental conditions, as well as with people who experience care that is less than optimal to conduct her research.Personal details
