It is necessary we to collect and use personal information about our students, staff and other clients to fulfil our functions. We recognise that, in collecting, storing and using this information, we have obligations to safeguard personal privacy in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009.
The personal information we collect and hold falls into the following seven broad categories:

- Staff records
- Records on human research participants
- Links to the community
- Business and financial information
- IT records
- Public registers held at QUT
The records listed are kept for variable periods according to the applicable provisions of the QUT General Disposal Schedule, which is approved by Queensland State Archives.
