What you'll receive

Scholarships available include:

  • scholarships valued at $30,000 each for study in any discipline
    • these scholarships will be paid as a study stipend of up to $5,000 after the HECS-HELP census date of each semester for up to three years ($10,000 per year).
  • scholarships valued at $10,000 each for study in any discipline
    • this scholarship will be paid as a study stipend of $2,500 after the HECS-HELP census date of each semester for the first four semesters of your course ($5,000 per year).

QUT Excellence Scholarship (Academic) recipients will receive automatic membership into QUT's College of Excellence.

Other benefits may include early access to research opportunities.

Eligibility

You must:

  • be graduating Year 12 in 2025, or have graduated Year 12 in 2024
  • be starting university for the first time in 2026
  • have not undertaken/commenced any tertiary study, other than studies in special university programs designed for secondary school students (eg. START QUT)
  • have QUT as your first preference at the time of the main December and main January admissions offer rounds
  • have applied for a tertiary place through the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) and received a QUT offer in your first preference
  • have achieved a minimum unadjusted Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank (ATAR) of 98.00 or a minimum unadjusted selection rank of 98 for an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma to be considered.

You must also be one of the following:

  • an Australian citizen or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder
  • an Australian Permanent Resident, New Zealand citizen, or international student who has completed Year 12 in Australia.

Not all applicants on an unadjusted ATAR or IB selection rank of 98.00 or above will be made an offer.  Scholarship offers are allocated across faculties. This provides opportunities for outstanding students in various fields of study.

How to apply

Scholarships are closed. The next offer round will be December 2025 and January 2026.

You do not need to complete a scholarship application for the QUT Excellence Scholarship (Academic). All eligible students who complete a QTAC application in line with QTAC key dates with a QUT course as their first preference will be considered.

What happens next?

Due to the large volume of applications received, we'll only notify students who are successful in being offered a scholarship.

Conditions

To keep your scholarship, you must maintain an overall grade point average (GPA) of 5.00 or higher each semester.

You can:

  • be enrolled either full-time or part-time
  • take a leave of absence for up to two years but only after you have completed one full-time semester of study. You won't receive scholarship payments during this time
  • defer your QUT Excellence Scholarship (Academic) if you defer your course, provided you haven't undertaken university studies during your period of deferment.
