This unit provides an introduction to human rights . It is deliberately located within a broad political, legal, social, cultural and economic framework. It examines the relationship between human rights and thematic challenges including climate change, poverty,and oppressive forms of intolerance and discrimination. It offers the opportunities to investigate present day concerns relating to the human rights of women, Indigenous peoples and minority groups as well as specific topics such as human trafficking, harmful cultural practices, workers' rights and child soldiers.
