It builds on previous study in engineering hydraulics in EGH371. This unit introduces the hydrologic cycle and its applications in runoff estimations from small catchments, probability and risk of flooding, selection and estimation of design floods, hydrologic data analysis, flood estimations using the Rational Method and advanced computer modelling of catchments. Ability to accurately assess catchments for their hydrologic and hydraulic characteristics is a fundamental attribute of water engineers and designing and managing urban infrastructure. The unit also introduce design techniques of important infrastructure elements so that students get a good grasp of the design codes and specifications. This unit is one of Civil Engineering's work integrated learning (WIL) units, which includes a professional learning task designed with the support of industry professionals.","title-full":"EGH471 Advanced Water Engineering","title-short":"Advanced Water Engineering","url":{"current":"https://qutvirtual4.qut.edu.au/group/student/enrolment/units/unit?unitCode=EGH471&year=2022","prospective":"https://www.qut.edu.au/study/unit?unitCode=EGH471","timetable":"https://qutvirtual3.qut.edu.au/qvpublic/ttab_unit_search_p.process_teach_period_search?p_unit_cd=EGH471"},"year":2022,"years":[2022]}
