It will also provide you the necessary skills and experience in analysing and designing simple steel structures including continuous beams and trusses through group projects on real world examples. The ability to analyse and design buildings, bridges, cranes and transmission towers constructed in steel under various loadings is a requirement for a range of graduate civil engineering positions. This unit is the first one in the civil engineering course that provides the knowledge and skills required for this purpose. It forms the foundation for a number of advanced civil engineering units in later years of the course. EGB476-Advanced Steel Design builds on this unit by extending your knowledge and skills for more complex steel structures.","title-full":"EGB376 Steel Design","title-short":"Steel Design","url":{"current":"https://qutvirtual4.qut.edu.au/group/student/enrolment/units/unit?unitCode=EGB376&year=2022","prospective":"https://www.qut.edu.au/study/unit?unitCode=EGB376","timetable":"https://qutvirtual3.qut.edu.au/qvpublic/ttab_unit_search_p.process_teach_period_search?p_unit_cd=EGB376"},"year":2022,"years":[2022]}
