The importance of Hydraulics to civil engineers is that the fundamental knowledge gained in this unit is intimately related to the design, construction, operation and maintenance of bridges, dams, pumping stations, water and wastewater treatment plants, water distribution systems for water supply and sewerage systems are among many other features deemed important in modern day society. The unit focuses on the engineering applications of water and other liquids (fluids). Topics covered include practical applications of hydrostatics, pipe flow, energy loss in pipes and pipe systems and water distribution systems to communities for drinking water that includes pumps and storage reservoirs. New concepts introduced during lectures are explained through examples and demonstrated with real-world problem solving tasks.","title-full":"EGB371 Engineering Hydraulics","title-short":"Engineering Hydraulics","url":{"current":"https://qutvirtual4.qut.edu.au/group/student/enrolment/units/unit?unitCode=EGB371&year=2022","prospective":"https://www.qut.edu.au/study/unit?unitCode=EGB371","timetable":"https://qutvirtual3.qut.edu.au/qvpublic/ttab_unit_search_p.process_teach_period_search?p_unit_cd=EGB371"},"year":2022,"years":[2022]}
