Topics explored in this unit include the functions of financial markets, the banking and payments system, financial system deregulation, non-bank financial institutions, stock exchange operations, debt markets, foreign exchange markets and markets for financial derivatives. Students will practise key skills of critical exploration and analysis in considering the role of finance theories and models to help understand key financial market events within broader social, economic and political contexts. Students will continue to develop and apply these foundational insights and critical thinking skills in subsequent finance units.","title-full":"EFB201 Financial Markets","title-short":"Financial Markets","url":{"current":"https://qutvirtual4.qut.edu.au/group/student/enrolment/units/unit?unitCode=EFB201&year=2022","prospective":"https://www.qut.edu.au/study/unit?unitCode=EFB201","timetable":"https://qutvirtual3.qut.edu.au/qvpublic/ttab_unit_search_p.process_teach_period_search?p_unit_cd=EFB201"},"year":2022,"years":[2022]}
